Intercession

Standing in the gap for others

I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people.

1 Timothy 2:1

Intercession is love expressed as attention. Abraham, Moses, and Jesus all stand between God and people they refuse to give up on. Praying for someone is a way of continuing to care when you cannot fix anything.

Pray it through

Your answers stay private
  1. Step 1

    Name them

Picture the person. Hold them before God without editorial.

  2. Step 2

    Pray Scripture over them

Paul's prayers (Ephesians 1:17–19, Colossians 1:9–12) give words when yours run out.

  3. Step 3

    Ask specifically

Vague prayers are hard to remember and hard to see answered.

  4. Step 4

    Offer your hands

Ask whether you are part of the answer — a call, a meal, a presence.
