Hunger as prayer
Fasting Planner
Fasting is not a hunger strike aimed at God. It is emptying a space normally filled — food, screens, noise — so that longing itself becomes prayer. Jesus assumed his followers would fast, and warned them to do it quietly.

Learn the practice
“When you fast, do not look gloomy… so that your fasting may not be seen by others.”
Matthew 6:16-18
- Name the intention before the method. What are you praying toward?
- Start with one meal or one evening, not forty days.
- Replace the space with prayer, not with distraction.
- Fasting is unwise with some health conditions or a history of disordered eating — talk to a doctor first.
- Break the fast gently, with gratitude.
